How to wash and care for wool
Wool is a natural fibre that is known for its warmth, durability, and insulating properties. Here are some tips for washing, drying, and storing wool items.
Wash
Most wool items should be hand washed in cool water with a mild detergent. Avoid using hot water or agitating the garment too much, as this can cause it to shrink or felt. Rinse the garment thoroughly and gently squeeze out any excess water, but avoid wringing or twisting the garment.
Wool doesn’t need washing every time you wear it. Its fibres have a natural protective coating, making it resistant to dirt and dust. Hang to ventilate instead.
Dry
To dry wool, lay the garment flat on a clean towel and gently roll it up to remove any excess water. Then, reshape the garment and lay it flat on a drying rack or clean towel to air dry. Avoid using a dryer, as the heat can shrink or damage the fibres.
Store
It's important to keep it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. You can store wool items in a breathable garment bag or folded neatly in a drawer. Avoid hanging wool, as this can cause it to stretch out of shape.
