How to wash and care for cashmere
Cashmere is a luxurious fibre that comes from the undercoat of Cashmere goats. It is known for its incredibly soft and warm yet lightweight and breathable qualities, making it a must-have fabric for any season. With proper care, cashmere items can last for years, making them a worthwhile investment for your wardrobe.
Wash
It's best to hand wash your cashmere items in cool water with a mild detergent. Avoid using hot water or harsh detergents, as this can damage the fibres. Gently agitate the garment in the water and then rinse it thoroughly. Don't wring or twist the garment, as this can cause it to stretch or lose its shape.
Cashmere doesn’t need to be washed every time you wear it – a few times per season is ideal. Just air out your cashmere items between wears.
Dry
Lay the garment flat on a clean towel and gently roll it up to remove any excess water. Then, reshape the garment and lay it flat on a drying rack or clean towel to air dry. Avoid using a dryer, as the heat can damage the fibres.
Store
Keep it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. You can store cashmere in a breathable garment bag or folded neatly in a drawer. Avoid hanging cashmere, as this can cause it to alter the shape.
